Press Release - March 1, 2024

Laura's journey as an advocate and leader for Kittitas County is deeply rooted in her heritage and love for rural America. A seventh-generation Washingtonian, she brings a wealth of experience and commitment to our community.

Having called Kittitas County home for 32 years, Laura's dedication is evident. From settling in Hyak at Snoqualmie Pass at age eleven to raising her family in Roslyn, she's deeply connected to the community she serves.

As your Kittitas County Commissioner since 2016, Laura has been re-elected twice, a testament to her unwavering commitment. Looking forward, she remains enthusiastic about the opportunity to continue working for the betterment of our community.

Laura's priorities for the future:

  • Opposing new taxes without your vote, ensuring decisions reflect public support.

  • Revitalizing rural communities by updating the Northwest Forest Plan and creating a Bioeconomy Development Opportunity Zone.

  • Enhancing transparency through town hall meetings, recorded meetings, and increased community engagement.

  • Securing funding for affordable housing, legislation for rural dwelling units, and senior rental assistance.

  • Addressing traffic challenges with increased law enforcement, electronic signs, and advocacy for road improvements through STEER I-90.

Join Laura in building a better, more affordable Kittitas County for future generations!
